Day one

Day two

After our early morning yoga class and healthy breakfast, our driver will pick you up and will drive you to the Poás Volcano, located in Alajuela, it reaches 8,884 feet above sea level and it is one of the most spectacular volcanoes in Costa Rica, known for its biggest geyser in the world because of its plumiform eruptions.  We continue then to the unique and amazing La Paz Waterfall Gardens, which is a Nature Park that has a variety of climates including both Cloud and Rain Forest, five magnificent waterfalls with nine viewing platforms allow you to a close view of the falls and La Paz River, a trail that let you walk to Magia Blanca Falls (the largest and most spectacular of the falls in the area) and the Hummingbird Garden.  You can also visit the butterfly observatory with a beautiful collection of tropical jewels.  After a delicious healthy lunch here, continue your tour to Sueño Azul hotel, perched on top of a lush hillside, overlooking the Puerto Viejo and San Rafael rivers, it will immerse you in the spectacular beauty of the Costa Rican rainforest.  Replenish y our body and soul in the stillness of nature and enjoy spectacular views abound of the forest, mountains, rivers and private lakes. Day three
After an early yoga class and healthy breakfast, get prepared for an exciting and adventurous horseback riding tour.    Enjoy a rare opportunity to swim in natural pools within the cascades as you gaze upon the untouched beauty of the rainforest all around you.  These spectacular cascades and natural pools formations are one of the most beautiful spots at Sueño Azul.  A natural way to nourish your mind, body and soul. Day four
After our healthy breakfast, get prepared for your next healing experience…a hiking tour through forest trails with an English-speaking naturalist guide. Learn about the unique ecosystem of the rainforest and its flora and fauna,  followed by a relaxing boat tour through  the Sarapiqui River.  You will have the opportunity to view river wildlife, as well as observe the vitality of the river as a means of transportation for the local Costa Ricans. A delicious Costa Rican style lunch will be served at the end of the tour before continuing the trip  back to Martino Resort in La Garita.  Dinner and overnight.

Day five
Early in the morning, after a   healthy breakfast depart to local airport for a flight to Osa Peninsula, one of the most biologically diverse regions on the earth.  A charter or re

Day six

Get prepared for a day full of adventure at the famous Corcovado National Park.  Departing after breakfast when the sun is still low.  The Corcovado National Park, southeast at the Osa Peninsula, is one of the most bio diverse regions of Costa Rica.  The wildlife of Corcovado is as rich and varied as its plant life.  Identification has been made of 140 species of mammals, 367 of birds, 117 of amphibians and reptiles and 40 of freshwater fish.    The park protects the largest population of scarlet macaws (Ara macao) in the country.  Some of the resident endangered species are the tapir (Tapirus bairdii), the giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla)  and the 6 species of felines that live in Costa Rica.   There are about 500 species of trees throughout the park. This represents one fourth of all the  tree species that exist in Costa Rica.

Day seven
Today you will have an exciting snorkelling tour at the Caño Island National Park.  Ancient Indian burial ground, beautiful shaded beaches, hiking to the top of the island, outstanding snorkeling.  All meals included

Day eight
After breakfast, a bout will take  you back to the aircraft for your flight back to San José, lodging at the Martino Resort and Spa  or similar

Day nine

Day one
A van will pick you up at the international airport.  Transfer to  your hotel in San José.  Overnight.

Day two
Early morning you will be picked up by a Calypso Catamaran Yacht tour operator who will   transfer you in a luxury bus with a/c to Puntarenas dock.  Upon arrival, you will board the famous Calypso Catamaran Yacht which includes 2 Jacuzzis and lots of room to sunbath on your way to Tortuga Island. The yacht has an air-conditioned area also. Light breakfast with fruits, bread & coffee and a full lunch plus Non-alcoholic beverages incl.  Get prepared for a relaxing yacht trip through the Nicoya Gulf.  Around 1.1-2 hours and you will be at the Tortuga Island, known for its white sand beach and turquoise water. You will stay here during five hours, so take your time to swim, snorkelling, and then enjoy a succulent and delicious lunch.  On the way back to Puntarenas, the Catamaran will pass near the islands of San Lucas, Gitana, Pan de Azucar, Jesusita, Cedros and the  Guayabo Island National Park.  Upon arrival to Puntarenas, a van from Hotel Heliconia will waiting for you to take you to the beautiful area of Monteverde.  Check in and overnight at Hotel Heliconia.

Day three
After breakfast, a guide will pick you up and will take you to Selvatura, where you will enjoy a self-guided hiking on the hanging bridges.  Selvatura is a conservation project located in Monteverde, a location world famous for its cloud forest.    The tour consists of 8 bridges of various lengths ranging between 204 and 480 feet.  The total length of the tour is about 1.8 miles.  This tour provides the safest possible way to enjoy the canopy and the cloud forest from its most interesting perspective.    Back to Heliconia.  In the afternoon, you can have any of the optional tours like horseback riding,  visit to the Santa Elena village or you may just want to walk around.  Overnight.

Day four

Breakfast included.
Today is all yours to enjoy this marvelous place.  We recommend taking one of the optional tours offered at the hotel.  Some of them are:  horseback riding, Guided hiking tour at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, Canopy tour or the town tour.  Overnight.

Day five
After breakfast,  a van from Hotel Heliconia will transfer you to the Arenal Lake, where you will board a boat to be transferred to the amazing Arenal Volcano.  Check in at the Volcano Lodge.    Enjoy the marvelous spot for viewing   the incredible Arenal Volcano.  This lodge offers spacious and comfortable rooms with A/C, private bathroom with hot water.  Enjoy watching the volcano from the swimming pool or having a relaxing time at the Jacuzzi.     Overnight.

Day six
After breakfast, a guide will pick you up and will offer a guided walking tour to the lava flows, where you will be witness of the strength of this amazing mountain of fire.  For over 400 years Arenal volcano’s forest-covered cone sat alone and silent on the edge of the San Carlos plains, exhibiting only a little fumaroles activity in its single, dormant crater.  In 1968 it erupted violently without warning, spewing molten rock and ash high into the sky, destroying the village of Pueblo Nuevo, killing 78 people, and forming three new craters.  It has been active ever since with more or less regular eruptions of lava and ash providing fiery demonstrations that draw curios onlookers from all parts of the world.  Adrenal’s constant activity has covered the two lower craters on the western, rocky slope.  Viewed from north or south its two remaining craters appear as twin peaks belching ash and rock.   Late in the afternoon or at night, we recommend you to visit the Tabacon Hot Springs .  Overnight at Volcano Lodge.

Day seven
After breakfast, a van will pick you up and will take you to Sarapiquì. 

Check in at  La Quinta de Sarapiqui , a small hotel  managed and owned by a Costa Rican family.  This hotel is known for offering the best-personalized services of the area.   Spacious rooms with natural ventilation, fan, and private bathroom with hot water.  Free afternoon to visit the butterfly garden, the frog garden and exhibition of organic plantations, or you may visit La Quinta’s maximum attraction:  The Rain Forest Jewel Museum, where you will appreciate a combination of art and science in an exhibition of thousands of insects from all over the world.  Take your time to relax at the refreshing swimming pool, beside the river, accompany by the sounds of nature.

Day eight
After breakfast , a van from La Quinta de Sarapiquì will take you to Cruce de Rio Frio where a van from Pachira lodge will pick you up to continue your vacation at the famous Tortuguero National Park.Be our special guest in a banana processing and packing plant and learn more about one of Costa Rica’s prime products (subject to availability).  Board a comfortable boat upon arrival to the port and let this extraordinarily exotic paradise enchant you, as you travel along the Tortuguero Canals.    Have a one-in-a-lifetime experience in this unique place surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna of breathtaking beauty...A refreshing cocktail and delicious lunch will welcome you to PACHIRA LODGE.   After lunch, a visit to the museum, the beach area and the small and picturesque town of Tortuguero is included.

Day nine
6:30 a.m.  Optional morning tour:  Enjoy nature at its best as you undertake a journey through the canals, a network of navigable waterways of great scenic beauty crosses the park from southeast to northwest.  The canals and marshes are the habitat of 7 species of tortoise.  They also provide shelter to the endangered West Indian manatee (Trichchus manatus) and the rare crocodile (Crocodylus acutus).    Back to the lodge for breakfast.  Get ready to hike Tortuguero Hill or travel along the well-known Tortuguero Canals and have the experience of your life in this unique paradise of magnificent flora and fauna.  .  After lunch, take your time to enjoy our private trails, ride a boat through the canals, swim at our turtle-shaped swimming pool, or just relax.  Dinner and overnight.

Day ten

Day 8: B-L-D
After breakfast, prepare yourself for a guided hiking tour through the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve.  Take advantage of this opportunity to observe the great biodiversity of one of the most beautiful protected areas of the country.  The Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve has earned its fame as one of the most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries in the New World tropics.  Positioned atop the Continental Divide in western Costa Rica, the Preserve extends down both the Caribbean and Pacific slopes.  The resultant combination of climatic and geographic factors creates temperature and humidity gradients which change dramatically over relatively short distances.  The Preserve supports six different vegetation communities.  There are over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, 120 species of amphibians and reptiles, and 2,500 species of plants (among them 420 different kinds of orchids).  Spectacular wildlife includes the jaguar, Ocelot, Bairds´s Tapir, Three-wattled Bellbird, Barenecked Umbrella-bird and Resplendent Quetzal.

Day 9: B-L-D
After breakfast, prepare to drive to one of the most beautiful, scenic regions in all of Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio.  Be the guest at a Deluxe room of the unique and incomparable  Si Como No hotel.  This hotel captures the magical nature of Costa Rica´s incredible Bio-diversity, creating a vacation experience deeply rooted in the culture and pace of its this unique country. After breakfast, a guide will pick you up and will offer a walking tour through the Manuel Antonio National Park.  This park has four interesting geomorphologic features.  The first one is the tombolo at Punta Catedral.  The second feature is the blowhole at Puerto Escondido, the third one is Punta Serrucho and the fourth one is the pre-Columbian underwater turtle trap at the western tip of Manuel Antonio Beach.  The main habitats in the park are primary forest, secondary forest, mangrove swamps, which cover 18 hectares, and small herbaceous swamps and open water lagoons scattered throughout the interior.  The park houses a variety of wildlife, including 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds...

Back to your hotel.  Free afternoon to enjoy at the beach, why not, take an optional tour or just relax and drink a cocktail while you enjoy the  refreshing swimming pool of the hotel.  Overnight.

Day 3:  SELVA BANANITO LODGE   B-L-D 
Very early in the morning, after a healthy breakfast,  you will experience a thrilling adventure and renewal tour, considered the highlight of Selva Banannito.  This beautiful hike follows the Bananito River upstream to a series of charming waterfalls within Reserva Selva Bananito. Enjoy refreshing dips in the river and a delicious lunch by the last waterfall. The return leads through primary rain forest. This is a somewhat strenuous program for anyone who is reasonably fit and does not have physical limitations. An optional  exhilarating experience is available for adrenaline seekers.  Rappel down a 20 meter high waterfall in midst of gorgeous primary forest (under request at the lodge)

Day 4:  PACHIRA LODGE  B-L-D
Early breakfast.  Transfer to Bananito Village where a van will pick you up for your next adventure.  A guide from Pachira Lodge will meet you  in Siquirres to continue the trip to the beautiful and amazing Tortuguero National Park.

Day 5:  PACHIRA LODGE   B-L-D
Optional morning tour.  Enjoy nature at its best as you undertake a journey through the canals at dawn, and take your best shots of a real Caribbean sunrise.

Day 6:
After breakfast, transfer back to Caño Blanco dock where our van will be waiting for your next renewal destination.  Be prepared for  a unique and healing experience.

Day 7
Get ready for a yoga class before a healthy breakfast.

Today you have an exciting kayak tour at the beautiful beach of Punta Uva, with the help of a trained guide, you will kayak in the ocean with a sea kayak. Day  One: PACUARE RAFTING     

The Pacuare river is world famous for its sheer beauty. A true river gorge, it is flanked by steep, green walls. Here you enjoy the feeling of total isolation from urban life and the realness of being connected with nature. You see waterfalls cascade into the river from both sides as colorful, tropical birds fly right over your head. Amazing views of this virgin tropical rainforest area, appear before your eyes as you descend this true exploratory land.

The Pacuare River has white water that is equal to its natural beauty and abundant wildlife. It is not an overly challenging river, but it has a lot rapids, therefore giving you an adventure filled with lots of fun. The 18 mile one day run includes a total of 38 rapids. Few rivers in the world can offer you so many rapids in such a short stretch of river.

The day begins between 6:00am and 6:30am when we pick you up at your hotel in San José or on the Caribbean Coast in Limón, Cahuita or Puerto Viejo.

The drive is very relaxing and scenic with picturesque little towns, colorful plantations and great mountain views. The guides make this time entertaining by delivering quality information about the area's geography, history, crops, flora and fauna. The drive time to the "put in" is approximately two hours, during which time we will stop for breakfast at the half way point.

Upon arrival to the river we will gear you up with a life jacket, helmet and paddle and then brief you with a full safety orientation talk. Finally, it is time to take off down the rapids!

The first 4 miles consist of fun class II-III rapids which is a perfect time to test your new river skills and gain confidence in your team. Here you can find pockets of secondary growth forest that is extremely beautiful. After about 40 minutes we will enter the famous Pacuare River Gorge, which is 5 miles of some of the best white water Costa Rica has to offer. The rapids here are "Terciopelo snake", "Double drop", "Upper and Lower Huacas", "Pin ball" to name a few. You will also see the Huacas watefall, a 150 foot dramatic drop into the river. 

At the end of the tour you will be taken to a hotel inTurriaba for dinner and overnight.

Day 2:  Selva Bananito Lodge    B-L-D
Pascua Section- Reventazon River


After paddling the Pascua section of the Reventazon River, adventurers agree that these are the best rapids they have conquered. A classic, big water run, Pascua is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat, literally! And when we say big, well, we will let you decide what exactly our definition of big means. For example, some of the waves on this run are bigger than the raft. Rapids like "Dirty Mind", "The Abyss", "Indigestion" and "Horrendito" are among the fifteen class IV rapids you will run. While basking in the excitement of the adventure, one will also have the opportunity to notice the scenery and how complimentary it is in its sheer beauty. There is a variety of big mountain landscapes which include a superb view of the nearby Turrialba Volcano (3234 msnm).
This 24 km run (15 miles) takes about four hours which includes lunch on the river.  At the end of the tour, you will be taken to the operations center, where a van will pick you up to continue the trip to the unique Selva Bananito Lodge.

Selva Bananito Lodge and Reserve is located on our family farm. The reserve covers two thirds of the farm and consists of primary rain forest. It shares borders with Area de Conservacion La Amistad (La Amistad Biosphere Reserve), Central America's largest protected wilderness expanse, which consists of national and international parks and preserves. This area remains one of the least explored territories in the region, its biological wealth only partially known.

One third of our family land (about 416 hectares or 1,000 acres) is devoted to low-impact, sustainable agriculture and cattle management.  Check in and overnight.

Day 3:  SELVA BANANITO LODGE   B-L-D 

After a buffet breakfast, you can choose from any of the following tours:  Introductory tree climbing, horseback riding or a natural guided hiking on the private reserve.  Back to the lodge for lunch.  Afternoon at leisure to enjoy surroundings or to take one of the optional tours offered at this lodge.

Day 4: LAGUNA LODGE  B-L-D
Early breakfast.  Transfer to Bananito Village where a van will pick you up for your next adventure.  A guide from Laguna  Lodge will pick you up in Siquirres to continue the trip to the beautiful and amazing Tortuguero National Park.

At Caño Blanco, you will board the covered boat to the lodge, passing the Tortuguero canals arriving between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the lodge our staff will be waiting for you with a refreshing cocktail, your rooms will be assigned and the guide will explain the afternoon activities after lunch -the visit to the Turtle Museum of the C.C.C. (Caribbean Conservation Corporation) and to the colorful Tortuguero town.  
You will return to the lodge around 5:30 p.m. Free time to enjoy the pool, the bar service and prepare for your dinner. Dinner service from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and then rest of the night free to enjoy the surroundings, pool and bar.


Day 5

Optional 6:15 am tour to admire the awakening of the wildlife of Tortuguero.  Return for breakfast (service between 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.).  Then another boat tour to admire the canals of Tortuguero National Park.  This is a wonderful and interesting experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna of Tortuguero National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch and free time for a siesta, enjoy the pool or go for a walk to the beach.  Then you have another optional tour to the canals or stay at the lodge to explore the private trails of the lodge, visit the open butterfly garden or simply enjoy the pool.  Dinner at the lodge and free night.

Day 6
After breakfast we will begin our trip back to San Jose around 9:00 a.m. The boat will arrive at Caño Blanco around 11:00 a.m. Then our bus will be waiting for the drive back to San Jose.  Stop en route for lunch at La Ponderosa Restaurant.  Arrive in San Jose area around 3:00 p.m. (depending on the hotel you will be staying).
